Class Description

Let’s be honest: we all have "stuff." We have fabric stashes, snacks we’re hiding from the kids, extra yarn, and that one receipt from 2019 we’re afraid to throw away. It’s time to stop stuffing your life into a flimsy grocery bag and start being a Bag Lady with style!

Join us for a day of stitching as we tackle the Bag Lady Tote by Fig Tree & Co. This isn't just a bag; it’s a lifestyle upgrade. Measuring a massive 18" x 19", this tote is large enough to carry your groceries, a small dog, or your entire "Works in Progress" pile that you’ve been ignoring.

In this class, we will cover:

• The "Faux-Leather" Magic: Learn how to use Kraft-Tex (the paper that acts like leather) to make your friends think you’ve gone upscale and expensive.

• Boxy is Beautiful: We’ll learn how to box corners so your bag stands up on its own—even if you’re currently struggling to do the same.

• Handle With Care (and Strength): We’ll attach sturdy handles that can withstand the weight of your heavy-duty quilting dreams.

Forget the "less is more" philosophy. In this class, more is more, and we’re going to make sure you have the perfect, designer-looking vessel to carry it all in.

Class Details

• Skill Level: If you can sew a straight-ish line and handle a rotary cutter without a trip to the ER, you’re ready.

• Warning: Making one may lead to an uncontrollable urge to make five more.

The "Survival" List

• The Pattern: Bag Lady (FT 1107) — Required for entry into the secret society.

• The Fabric: 1 yard of something pretty (because you deserve it).

• The Lining:  1 yard to compliment your something pretty
•  The Handles:  1/2 accent fabric
•  For quilting: Fusible fleece

• Accent Material: 1/2 yard Kraft-Tex (it looks like leather but won't make your sewing machine cry).

• Lunch: Because a "hangry" Bag Lady is a dangerous Bag Lady.

• Your Sewing Machine: And maybe a little patience.
